Words from the New President

Dear EFTA colleagues and friends all over Europe,

The General Board of EFTA who are in deep sorrow following the death of our esteemed president Rodolfo de Bernart conducted a meeting in Budapest hosted by the Hungarian Family Therapy Association to continue the work of EFTA. We gathered also to mourn, remember and celebrate our president and friend. In a moving ceremony led by our colleague Julia Hardy (NFTO) we took time to each light a candle and share our thoughts and feelings in remembrance.

Changes in EFTA

It is with pleasure tinged with sadness that I take up the role of President of EFTA, our organisation is truly international and multi layered consisting of the constituent chambers of EFTA Chamber of Individuals(CIM), Training Institutes Chamber(TIC) and National Family Therapy Organisations (NFTO). I am conscious that being elected as role as EFTA’s new president also means changes in the NFTO board that I have had the honour of chairing for the last six years. I am pleased to announce that Hans Christian Michaelsen has been confirmed as the new chairperson of NFTO.

Finally, I wish to thank all of the many members, training institutes and national and international associations that have taken the time to email, write and communicate with us their messages of sympathy and support. We have valued each one as an expression of warmth and collegial support.

Best Wishes,

Monica Whyte
